With nearly three quarters of the calendar year remaining there are some big ONE Championship fights in the works. These are the five we are most excited about, some of them are definitely happening and the rest of them definitely need to happen.
Angela Lee vs Seo Hee Ham
The stars have aligned to make the biggest fight in their history of the atomweight division. Seo Hee Ham is riding an eight fight winning streak that has seen her defeat some of the best 105-108lbs fighters in the world.
Angela Lee is the only fighter to ever hold the ONE Championship atomweight title and recently made a successful comeback after taking time off to have a baby. They are clearly the two best fighters in the division and we want to see them facing off sooner rather than later!
Demetrious Johnson vs Adriano Moraes II
Adriano Moraes has cleared out the flyweight division. He has beaten every fighter currently in the top four and is at the pinnacle of the sport.
Demetrious Johnson has been there. He was the most dominant champion in UFC flyweight history and, even if he hasn’t won an MMA fight since the loss to Moraes last year, we think that ‘Mighty Mouse’ warrants an immediate rematch based purely on his previous achievements in the sport.
Joshua Pacio vs Jarred Brooks
This fight is in the works. But to make it happen Jarred Brooks will need to get past Bokang Masunyane at ONE: ‘Reloaded’ this month. Should the undefeated South African prevail a title match between him and Joshua Pacio would also be huge.
But Brooks has already beaten one of Pacio’s teammates and has engaged in a war of words with Team Lakay. So we think a fight between him and the Filipino would be the bigger of the two.
Sage Northcutt vs. Eduard Folayang
Another fight that we know the promotion has tried to make. Sage Northcutt is the clean cut, all American star with a point to prove after a devastating defeat on his ONE Championship debut.
Eduard Folayang is a wildly popular Filipino veteran who has been with ONE Championship since the promotion’s inaugural event in 2011. He relaunched his career with a win over John Wayne Parr last month, albeit in a Muay Thai fight, and deserves a crack at the UFC veteran next.
Arjan Bhullar vs Anatoly Malykhin
Another fight that is bound to happen. Arjan Bhullar is the regular champion while Anatoly Malykhin holds the interim belt so a heavyweight unification bout must surely be next
There is bad blood between the two. Malykhin is undefeated but Bhullar has been competing at the highest level for longer so this could be anyone’s fight.
