A lightweight bout has been added to the AFC 16 card. Touted prospect Jae Wook Myung faces Jae Hyun Park in Seoul on May 31st.
Myung (6-1) is coming off the first loss of his career at GFC 4. The Busan Team MAD representative dropped a decision to Seung Min Shin in what was regarded as a major upset.
He will be looking to get his career back on track at AFC 16. Myung had won four fights out of four as an amateur before winning his first six bouts in the professional ranks.
Park (1-1) is coming off a second round stoppage win at AFC 13. He has not fought since 2019 but, like his opponent, was undefeated as an amateur before turning pro.
As previously announced the event will be headlined by a welterweight title fight pitting Jae Young Ahn against Seok Hyun Ko. The belt is vacant with Brazilian champion Jonas Boeno unable to travel to Korea to defend it.
Ko comes from a sambo background and is on a four fight winning streak. The only loss of his entire career came at the hands of Sasha Palatnikov in 2018.
By contrast Ahn has lost his last three fights. He dropped decisions to Kyung Jun Ahn at AFC 11 and Palatnikov at AFC 10.
In the welterweight division Lee Song Ha will take on Kim Sang Wook. The latter suffered his first loss as a professional at AFC 14 after back to back stoppage wins at Zeus FC 3 and Zeus FC 4 while the former will be making his professional debut.
The event is set for Sindorim Techno Mart and will be the promotion’s second event of 2021. In January AFC 15 took place at the same venue with Jae Young Kim beating Sang Il Ahn to win the vacant middleweight title.
