UFC veteran Nam Yui-Chul is back.

Road FC 57 is set for the Grand Hilton Hotel in Seoul on December 14th and will be headlined by the return of the former lightweight champion. He faces off against Shin Dong Guk in a welterweight showdown between two hard hitting 38 year olds.

Nam (19-8-1) burst onto the scene when he became the promotion’s inaugural lightweight champion, defeating Takasuke Kume to win the belt and then beating the same opponent in a rematch.

After a three-fight stint with the UFC, Nam returned to Road FC for the $1 Million tournament international trials but endured back to back losses at the hands of Tom Santos, a Brazilian who only came into the competition as a late replacement.

At the end of that year, he finished journeyman Jung Doo Je in the first round at Road FC 43 and subsequently stepped away from the sport to focus on other endeavors. Two years after retiring ‘The Korean Bulldozer’ will now return as a welterweight.

Facing him is Shin Dong Guk (3-1), a popular figure in the regional scene who is also a firefighter. He recently avenged his only career loss at Road FC 53 by knocking out Hayashi Tamotsu in the first round.

Also on the card is an atomweight clash between Park Jeong Eun (6-6-1) and Shim Yu Ri (5-2). This bout was originally scheduled for Road FC 54 earlier in the year but it was cancelled for unspecified reasons.

Park has been bouncing back and forth from Korea to Japan for the past few years. After some indifferent results she is coming off back to back wins and finished Emi Sato at Deep-Jewels 26 last week.

Shim, similarly, is on the best streak of her career. She has won three in a row with two of those victories coming inside the distance.
